Soybeans posted sharp gainsSoybeans posted sharp gains while corn and wheat struggled, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Feb. 19. Soybeans had strong buying interest and announced sale of 120,000 mt to China. Corn could not capitalize on soybeans gains while wheat struggled as the latest winter storm could provide needed moisture to key growing areas. Wheat closed 2 to 10 cents lower. Corn traded 3 to 4 cents lower. Soybeans closed 45 to 48 cents higher. In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $7.69, down 8 1/2 cents. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $7.36, down 2 to 7 cents; Minneapolis, $8.40 3/4, down 7 3/4 cents; Portland, $8.58 to $8.72 1/4, unchanged to down 10 cents; St. Louis, $7.72, down 10 cents. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $7.30 to $7.35, down 4 cents; Minneapolis, $6.88 1/4, down 3 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $6.98 1/4 to $7.07 1/4, down 3 1/2 cents; Omaha, $7.15 to $7.23, down 4 cents. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $15.05, up 45 cents; Minneapolis, no bid available; southern Iowa, $14.70 1/4 to $14.75 1/4, up 45 3/4 to 48 3/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $15 1/4 to $15.10 1/4, up 45 3/4 cents. Kansas City wheat prices Feb. 19, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $8.39 to $8.88, down 8 1/2 cents; 12% protein, $8.74 to $8.90, down 9 1/2 cents to down 8 1/2 cents; 13% protein, $8.89 to $9.04, down 8 1/2 cents; 14% protein, $8.89 to $9.04, down 8 1/2 cents.
