North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 210 head Feb. 13, compared to 3,306 head last week and 287 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady. There were not enough feeders for an accurate trend but a few classes were $7 to $12 lower on a very light test. The supply included about 124 feeder calves, 20 feeder yearlings, 15 replacement cows, 33 slaughter cows, 1 replacement bull, and 17 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 30% steers, 51% heifers, and 19% bulls, nearly 14% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 76.00 to 81.50; high dressing, 82.00 to 90.00; low dressing, 71.00 to 72.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 70.00 to 76.00; high dressing, 81.50; low dressing, 61.00 to 68.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 65.00 to 69.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00; high dressing, 100.00 to 107.50; low dressing, 78.00 to 86.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 398 lbs., 190.50 to 207.00 (195.54); 425 to 440 lbs., 180.00 to 187.00 (185.29); 460 to 492 lbs., 165.00 to 182.00 (169.74); 575 to 579 lbs., 148.00 to 156.00 (154.67). Medium and large frame 2, 375 to 385 lbs., 169.00 to 171.00 (169.99); 435 to 445 lbs., 145.00 to 168.00 (156.37); 450 to 465 lbs., 148.00 to 168.00 (158.16).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 362 to 395 lbs., 160.00 to 161.00 (160.21); 400 to 440 lbs., 156.00 to 162.00 (158.48); 473 to 475 lbs., 145.00 to 153.00 (149.40); 508 to 530 lbs., 140.00 to 145.00 (143.31); 560 to 595 lbs., 132.00 to 134.50 (132.87). Medium and large frame 2, 265 lbs., 150.00 to 156.00 (153.00); 380 to 398 lbs., 159.00 to 160.00 (159.32); 410 to 440 lbs., 153.00 to 156.00 (154.45); 455 to 490 lbs., 125.00 to 145.00 (137.49); 550 to 560 lbs., 125.00 to 132.00 (128.53); 610 to 610 lbs., 125.00 to 128.00 (126.50); 650 to 678 lbs., 118.00 to 124.00 (122.00).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 410 to 440 lbs., (425) 167.00 (167.00); 515 to 525 lbs., 145.00 to 160.00 (152.38); 550 to 575 lbs., 128.00 to 136.00 (131.91); 690 lbs., 129.00. Medium and large frame 2, 408 to 445 lbs., 154.00 to 170.00 (164.35); 515 to 525 lbs., 130.00 to 133.00 (131.51); 552 to 552 lbs., 131.00 (131.00); 620 to 640 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00 (122.54).

Replacement bulls: 1+ years old, 955 lbs., 130.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to 1300 lbs., second and third stage, 1020.00 to 1170.00/head, few; 7 to 10 years old, second and third stage, 800.00 to 850.00/head.
