West Plains regional cattle sales report

The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 2,371 head Feb. 12, compared to 4,384 head last week and 795 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds were uneven, generally steady to $2 lower, although stockers under 450 pounds and some long-weaned heavy 500-pound steers sold steady to $3 higher, weights over 600 pounds were $3 to $7 lower. Heifers were $2 to $6 lower. The supply was light to moderate. Demand uneven, depending on quality, fleshy condition, uniformity and buyers preference. The supply consisted of 59% steers and 41% heifers, with nearly 51% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 260 to 270 lbs., 195.00 to 205.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 180.00 to 205.00, small package 329 lbs., thin/gaunt 220.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 177.00 to 191.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 169.50 to 180.00, fleshy 160.00 to 170.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 167.50 to 182.50, 550 to 600 lbs., 154.00 to 167.50, fleshy 142.00 to 153.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 139.00 to 156.00, calves/fleshy 130.00 to 143.00; few 700 to 740 lbs., 140.00 to 145.00, calves/fleshy 130.00 to 133.00; few 800 to 840 lbs., 130.00 to 135.00; 925 to 940 lbs., 125.00 to 128.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 167.50 to 176.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 142.00 to 157.00, couple packages thin 528 lbs., 177.50, 558 lbs., 156.00, package fleshy 138.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 138.00 to 144.00, calves 130.00 to 133.00; small package 705 lbs., 137.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 878 lbs., 100.00. Holstein steers, Large frame 3, 400 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 109.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.50 to 105.00; Lot 615 lbs., 104.50; package 720 lbs., 95.00; draft 90 head, 844 lbs., 90.50.
