Ft. Smith livestock auction report

The Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 385 head Feb. 11, compared to 525 head last week, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady to $1 lower. Feeder steers were $1 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $4 lower. The supply included 211 feeder calves, 110 feeder yearlings, 11 replacement cows, 48 slaughter cows, 5 slaughter bulls, and 0 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% Exotic breed and Exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply about 55% steers and bulls with 45% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 73.00 to 77.50; high dressing, 78.00 to 82.00; low dressing, 68.00 to 72.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 77.00 to 81.50; high dressing, 82.00 to 86.00; low dressing, 72.00 to 78.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 75.00 to 79.50; high dressing, 80.00 to 84.00; low dressing, 70.00 to 74.50. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 58.00 to 62.50; high dressing, 63.00 to 67.00; low dressing, 52.00 to 57.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 92.00 to 98.00; high dressing, 105.00 to 106.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 320 to 340 lbs., 195.00 to 205.00 (198.13); 370 to 395 lbs., 197.00 to 209.00 (203.54); 415 to 420 lbs., 190.00 to 194.00 (192.01); 505 to 535 lbs., 170.00 to 179.00 (173.63); 550 to 580 lbs., 166.00 to 172.00 (169.05); 613 to 620 lbs., 159.00 to 166.00 (161.56); 650 to 665 lbs., 149.00 to 152.00 (150.98); 700 to 720 lbs., 134.00 to 142.00 (137.99); 752 lbs., 140.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 850 to 1275 lbs., open cows, 81.00 to 98.00; 4 to 6 years old, 1200 to 1300 lbs., second stage, 1175.00 to 1200.00/head; 7+ years old, 1100 to 1300 lbs., second stage, 84.00 to 98.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7+ years old, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 950.00 to 1150.00/pair.
