Amarillo livestock auction summary

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,702 head Feb. 11, compared to 704 head last week and 439 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week's limited test, feeder steers and heifers were weak to $2 lower. Steer and heifer calves were mostly steady. Trade activity was fairly active on moderate to good demand especially on conditioned calves that were available in the offering. Slaughter cows sold $2 to $4 higher and slaughter bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4%, 2% replacements and 94% feeders. The feeder supply included 66% steers and bulls, 34% heifers, approximately 67% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 268 lbs., 221.00; 300 to 350 lbs., 213.00 to 221.00; 400 to 425 lbs., 191.00 to 203.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 184.00 to 192.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 172.00 to 184.75; few 644 lbs., 151.00; few 761 lb. calves 135.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 132.75 to 134.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 459 lbs., 173.00; lot 527 lbs., 162.50; few 610 lbs., 150.00; few 740 lbs., 138.50; load 795 lbs., 133.00; load 841 lbs., 130.00; load 951 lbs., 127.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 492 lbs., 160.00; few 633 lbs., 130.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 184.00 to 187.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 172.00 to 185.00; 400 to 475 lbs., 167.50 to 169.00; lot 500 lbs., 163.00; lot 618 lbs., 137.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 131.00 to 135.50, few 730 lb. calves 131.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 388 lbs., 170.00; lot 464 lbs., 159.50; lot 550 lbs., 153.00; few 663 lbs., 130.00; few 715 lbs., 130.00; load 764 lbs., 129.00. Medium and large frame 2, load 763 lbs., 120.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 745 lbs., 110.00.

Slaughter cows: Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1525 lbs., 81.00 to 86.50; high dressing, 87.00 to 88.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 85.50 to 87.00; high dressing, 72.50 to 76.75; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 79.00; high dressing, 82.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1625 to 1850 lbs., 97.50 to 102.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, heiferettes 800 to 900 lbs., 3 to 9 months bred, 1175.00 to 1260.00; young to aged, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 3 to 9 months bred, 1160.00 to 1200.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 lbs., with 150-lb. calf, 1175.00/pair.
