Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,108 head Feb. 7, compared to 634 head last week and 389 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week's limited test, feeder steers and heifers were weak to $2 lower. Trade activity and demand were moderate to good. The offering consisted of mostly yearling steers and heifers weighing 700 to 900 pounds. Slaughter cows sold $2 to $5 higher. Slaughter bulls were not well tested last week. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 5%, less than 1% replacements, 95% feeders. The feeder supply included 56% steers and bulls, 44% heifers, with nearly 89% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 204.00 to 209.00; few 524 lbs., 175.00; few 567 lbs., 158.50; few 649 lbs., 148.50; 650 to 700 lbs., calves, 144.50 to 145.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 141.75 to 145.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 137.00 to 141.25; couple loads 892 lbs., 136.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 523 lbs., 152.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 142.50 to 147.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 138.50 to 142.25; few 883 lbs., 130.25. Medium and large frame 2, few 689 lbs., 130.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 460 lbs., 174.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 120.00 to 124.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 180.00 to 188.00; few 423 lbs., 169.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 157.00 to 163.00; 500 to 575 lbs., 152.00 to 155.00; 600 to 650 lbs., calves, 135.00 to 140.50; lot 685 lbs., 140.00, few 650 to 700 lbs., calves, 134.00 to 134.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 134.50 to 138.00; lot 860 lbs., 126.75, few 895 lbs., fleshy 119.50; lot 921 lbs., 122.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 546 lbs., 133.00; lot 626 lbs., 138.75; few 705 lbs., 135.50; load 789 lbs., 128.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 678 lbs., 119.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 878 lbs., 114.50.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1650 lbs., 77.00 to 82.00; low dressing, 71.25. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 81.50 to 84.00; high dressing, 84.75 to 88.50; low dressing, 77.00 to 80.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 82.50; high dressing, 85.25 to 87.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, individual 2140 lbs., 103.50; high dressing, 1775 to 2035 lbs., 106.50 to 108.50; low dressing, individual 1320 lbs., 94.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, aged individual, 1250 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, 1260.00/head.
