Salina feeder cattle auction report


The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,070 head Feb. 7, compared to 3,102 head last week and 2,488 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers at 650 to 800 pounds were steady, and 800 to 950 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Heifers at 650 to 700 pounds were steady, and 750 to 900 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Steers and heifers at 650 pounds and under were not enough for a market test, however cattle suited for grazing were steady. The supply included 74% steers and 26% heifers, with 89% 600 pounds and over.
