Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 661 head Feb. 7, compared to 833 head last week and 1,244 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder lambs sold steady, good slaughter ewes sold $2 lower, Utility and Cull slaughter ewes sold steady. There was moderate demand for several packages of feeder lambs and slaughter ewes and bucks which sold on a moderate market. The offering consisted of 67% feeder lambs, 33% slaughter ewes and bucks. Slaughter lambs: Wooled Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 7 head, 151 lbs., 105.00. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 30 head, 169 lbs., 37.75. Utility 1 to 2, Medium, 99 to 151 lbs., 33.50 to 35.00 (34.86). Cull 1, thin, 88 head, 131 lbs., 21.50. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 63 to 69 lbs., 147.00 to 151.00 (148.18); 75 to 79 lbs., 140.00 to 140.50 (140.37); 86 to 88 lbs., 136.00 to 141.50 (140.79); 40 head, 84 lbs., 143.00 ewe lambs; 93 to 98 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00 (128.62); 31 head, 99 lbs., 121.50 full; 13 head, 110 lbs., 115.00; 4 head, 126 lbs., 109.00.
