Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,621 head Feb. 7, compared to 1,686 head last week and 1,340 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to week ago, feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds were steady, 500 to 700 pounds were steady to $1 higher, 700 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Trade was fairly active. Demand was good, especially for summer grazing type cattle. Body condition on receipts mostly moderate flesh with a few fleshy. The bulk of the supply was Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 19%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows 0%, and feeders 81%. The feeder supply included 69% steers and 31% heifers, with nearly 88% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 359 lbs., pre-conditioned 233.00, few 372 lbs., 221.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 187.50 to 189.00, few 460 lbs., 194.00, few 427 lbs., 196.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 173.00 to 176.00, few 542 lbs., thin 180.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 157.50 to 160.00, few 620 lbs., fancy 166.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 143.00 to 147.25; 800 to 850 lbs., 140.25 to 140.50; 850 to 900 lbs., 134.25 to 138.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 516 lbs., 164.00; few 630 lbs., 153.00, 675 to 700 lbs., fleshy 135.00 to 140.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 135.50 to 139.00; few 800 to 900 lbs., 133.00 to 137.00. Medium and large frame 2 few 495 lbs., pre-conditioned 171.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1 few 370 lbs., pre-conditioned 178.00, few 392 lbs., 169.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 157.00 to 161.00, fancy 165.00 to 169.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 154.00, few 592 lbs., fleshy 143.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 139.00 to 144.00, few 698 lbs., 137.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 133.00 to 134.50, few 726 lbs., 138.00; few 823 lbs., 128.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 497 lbs., 151.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 140.50 to 141.00, few 549 lbs., fleshy 136.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 135.00 to 138.50, few 688 lbs., fleshy 131.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 128.00 to 132.00; few 841 lbs., 128.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1500 to 1800 lbs., 84.00 to 85.00; low dressing, 77.00 to 78.50. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1300 lbs., 83.00 to 84.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 87.00 to 88.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1900 lbs., 77.00 to 78.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 77.00 to 80.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 76.50 to 81.00; low dressing, 61.00 to 69.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00; high dressing, 1835 to 2100 lbs., 104.50 to 110.00.
