Colorado livestock auction summary

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 5,660 head Feb. 8, compared to 3,897 head last week and 2,544 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steers at 350 to 450 pounds traded mostly $5 to $9 lower, 500 to 750 pounds traded mostly $2 to $6 lower and 750 to 1,000 pounds on a light test, traded $2 to $5 higher. Heifer calves weighing 350 to 400 pounds, on a thin test, traded mostly $9 lower, and 400 to 800 pounds traded steady to $1 lower. There were no comparable sales from the previous week on heifers weighing over 800 pounds for an adequate market trend. Trading activity was moderate on moderate demand. The supply consisted of 60% steers and 40% heifers. Feeders over 600 pounds comprised 48% of the total supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 385 lbs., 200.00 to 227.00; 410 to 440 lbs., 187.00 to 200.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 178.00 to 188.00, fancy 195.00, thin fleshed 192.00 to 194.00; 505 to 550 lbs., 176.00 to 185.50, fancy 189.50, thin fleshed 193.00; 555 to 600 lbs., 160.00 to 187.00; 605 to 650 lbs., 159.00 to 172.50, fleshy 154.00; 660 to 680 lbs., 151.00 to 154.00; 700 to 745 lbs., 143.50 to 151.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 143.35 to 148.50, full 139.00; 805 lbs., 144.25; 814 lbs., fancy 143.00; 843 lbs., fleshy 137.00; 860 to 885 lbs., 137.00 to 138.00, fancy 140.00; 969 lbs., 130.00; 1005 lbs., fleshy 125.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 510 to 545 lbs., 172.50 to 178.00; 555 to 595 lbs., 159.00 to 166.00.
