Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts to 2,810 head Feb. 6, compared to 1,304 head last week and 1,793 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last month, Holstein steers were $5 to $7 higher on a few comparable sales.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly $4 to $6 higher on comparable sales. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 higher. Trade was very active, demand very good on all classes. The bulk of the supply was Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 700-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 11% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, bred cows 22%, pairs 5%, feeders 59%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 64% of the run, Holstein steers 10%, feeder bulls 3%, heifers 23%, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 40%.

Stocker cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 3, young, 900 to 1045 lbs., 73.50 to 77.75; few young, 1145 to 1312 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, 77.50 to 83.50; few middle-aged to aged, 870 to 1370 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 65.50 to 75.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, young, 1075 to 1520 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 1100.00 to 1400.00/head. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 885 to 1395 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 875.00 to 1110.00/head, 850 to 1240 lbs., 1 to 3 months bred, 750.00 to 1085.00/head; middle-aged, 995 to 1437 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 925.00 to 1200.00/head; aged, 950 to 1350 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 810.00 to 1085.00/head.
