Texas Direct feeder cattle summary

The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 30,600 head Feb. 8, compared to 43,800 head last week and 21,500 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week current FOB feeder steers and heifers were mostly $1 to $3 higher with the largest increases occurring early in the week, however there was some weakness noted late in the week particularly on weights over 800 pounds. Approximately 99% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds. Approximately 55% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 45% heifers. Prices based on net weights FOB after a 3% shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 16,800 head, 55%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price 650 to 700 lbs., 151.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 151.30; 750 to 800 lbs., 144.00 to 147.75; 800 to 850 lbs., 138.00 to 147.60; 850 to 900 lbs., 138.00. Delivered price 650 to 700 lbs., 157.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 147.50 to 150.30; 750 to 800 lbs., 144.00 to 149.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 139.90 to 149.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 138.25 to 142.85. Future delivery, FOB price 700 to 800 lbs., 148.60 to 148.90 March to April; 800 lbs., 141.80 March. Delivered price 700 to 800 lbs., 147.40 to 161.15 March to September; 800 to 850 lbs., 146.50 to 156.40 March to September. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price 835 lbs., 135.00. Delivered price 495 lbs., Mexican Origin 182.00; 625 lbs., Mexican Origin 148.70; 825 lbs., 142.00 to 144.00. Holstein steers, Large frame 3, Future delivery, FOB price 325 lbs., 149.00 June.

Heifers: 13,800 head, 45%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price 650 to 700 lbs., 140.00 to 141.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 136.00 to 142.25; 750 to 800 lbs., 138.00 to 139.00. Delivered price 600 to 700 lbs., 142.90 to 146.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 137.00 to 145.00; 815 lbs., 132.50.
