Ada livestock auction report


The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., reported receipts of 1,3,81 head Feb. 7, compared to 957 head last week and 1,257 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were steady, heifer calves were $2 to $4 lower. Demand was good for steers, moderate for heifers. The overall quality of offerings was plain to average but improved over last week. Fills were average to full. Cooler temperatures and damp and foggy conditions moved into the trade area last night and persisted through the day. Heifers made up 47% of calf supply and weights over 600 pounds made up 12% of offerings. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $3 higher. Packer demand was very good. Stock cow demand also good. A total of 204 cows and bulls sold with 50% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 301 to 347 lbs., 210.00 to 219.00 (212.23); 10 head, 390 to 392 lbs., 209.00 to 211.00 (209.60); 400 to 439 lbs., 191.00 to 205.00 (196.73); 457 to 495 lbs., 180.00 to 185.00 (181.40); 501 to 542 lbs., 165.00 to 179.00 (168.70); 17 head, 553 to 585 lbs., 159.00 to 165.00 (160.62); 13 head, 600 to 642 lbs., 150.00 to 154.50 (151.71) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 389 lbs., 199.00; 502 to 529 lbs., 125.00 to 160.00 (155.19). Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 305 to 345 lbs., 200.00 to 209.00 (203.42); 352 to 392 lbs., 185.00 to 205.00 (192.14); 10 head, 420 to 445 lbs., 180.00 to 189.00 (185.17); 453 to 493 lbs., 162.00 to 179.00 (172.70); 7 head, 500 lbs., 150.00; 6 head, 576 lbs., 145.00; 12 head, 603 to 644 lbs., 125.00 to 140.00 (131.17) calves.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 655 to 687 lbs., 138.00 to 140.00 (139.02) calves.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 333 to 348 lbs., 172.00 to 185.00 (178.22); 19 head, 350 to 383 lbs., 159.00 to 170.00 (164.61); 415 to 445 lbs., 150.00 to 163.00 (155.81); 465 to 497 lbs., 154.50 to 165.00 (159.26); 502 to 548 lbs., 145.00 to 154.00 (149.56); 6 head, 560 to 570 lbs., 140.00 to 150.00 (143.32); 600 to 649 lbs., 134.00 to 141.00 (137.31) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 498 lbs., 150.00 to 154.00 (152.00); 9 head, 510 to 545 lbs., 135.00 to 140.00 (137.30). Lights, 13 head, 85 to 90% lean, 825 to 975 lbs., 74.00; high dressing, 79.50 to 82.50; low dressing, 64.00 to 69.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 18 head, 1315 to 2035 lbs., 101.00 to 105.00; high dressing, 108.00 to 113.00; low dressing, 94.00 to 98.00; very low dressing, 84.00 to 89.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 7 years old, 1250 to 1325 lbs., 7 months bred, high quality, 1180.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1175 to 1350 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average blacks, 1200.00 to 1250.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1050 to 1100 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 1010.00 to 1100.00.
