The 2012 Midwest Ranch Horse Finals was held in Cherokee, Okla., Dec. 1. Ranch horse contestants from Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas, qualified for the year-end finals by placing at one of the twelve shows held throughout the year. The 2012 finals had 40 plus horsemen competing for saddles, spurs, buckles and other prizes.
Jeff Heaton of Alva, Okla., riding Pure Panther beat out seven other contestants in the short-go winning the JW Jacobs handmade saddle. Others making the short-go were John Maeder and Chris Potter from the Open Class, Clint Donley and Jeff Heaton representing the Junior Class, Justin Keith and Lane Stierwalt out of the Intermediate Class and Ed Bricker and John Miller from the Novice Class.
Gracie Bricker won the Youth Class with Colton Potter taking second and Caleb Chapman rounding out the top three. In the Pee Wee Class, it was Carlee Potter taking home first and Kynlee Kolb right behind her in a close finish. Our judges for the 2012 MRHA Finals were Brandon Smith and Leanna Deweese.
