Limousin Pen and Carload Champions selected at National Western Stock Show

The National Western Stock Show Limousin and Lim-Flex pen and carload shows took place, Jan. 17. Judges Dan Shike, Urbana, Ill.; Lance Sennett, Waynetown, Ind.; and Dave Thompson, Shafter, Calif., evaluated the 20 pens and six carloads.

Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo., exhibited the grand champion carload. The eight head had an average birth date of March 18, 2012; an average weight of 1,159 pounds; and an average weight per day of age of 3.84 pounds. Sires represented in the group were MAGS Xukalani, MAGS Xyloid, MAGS Wazowski and LH Rodemaster 338R.

Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo., also exhibited the reserve champion carload of Limousin bulls. The 10 head had an average birth date of September 19, 2011; an average weight of 1,769 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.72 pounds. Sires represented in the group were TC Aberdeen 759, R/M Ironstone 4047, LH Rodemaster 338R and MAGS Winston.

The People's Choice carload came from Symens Brothers Limousin, Amherst, SD. The 10 head had an average birth date of April 20, 2012; an average weight of 940 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.51 pounds. Sires represented in the group were WULFS Urban Cowboy 2149U, SYES User Friendly 524U, ROMN Xpress Lane 101X, DLVL Xerox 023X and CHTT Work Time 4925W.

The grand champion pen of three Limousin bulls came from Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo. The division I champion had an average birth date of March 13, 2012; an average weight of 1,093 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.76 pounds. DVHO Deuce 132R and BOHI Top Dollar 7144T sired the group.

The reserve grand champion came from ROM'N Limousin, Arlington, SD. The division II champion had an average birthday of April 13, 2012; an average weight of 1,002 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.67 pounds. ROMN Unbelievabull 141U, ROMN Xpect More 100X and WULFS Wagon Train 3197W sired the group. This pen was also selected as the People's Choice Limousin Pen.

The grand champion pen of three Lim-Flex bulls came from Magness Land and Cattle. This pen had an average birth date of January 20, 2012; an average weight of 1,430 pounds; and an average WDA of 4.02 pounds. Sires represented in the group were MAGS Winston and Connealy Consensus 7229. This pen was also selected as the People's Choice Lim-Flex Pen.

The reserve grand champion pen of three Lim-Flex bulls came from Lonely Valley Limousin, Creston, Neb. The pen had an average birth date of January 15, 2012; an average weight of 1,347 pounds; and an average WDA of 3.69 pounds. MAGS The General, AUTO Black Dakota 129J and LVLS Top Criteria 8862P sired the group.
