Dell Allen to be honored at Feb. 28 Stockmen's DinnerKansas Dell Allen, former vice president of technical services and food safety with Cargill Meat Solutions, will be honored at the 43rd annual Stockmen's Dinner on Feb. 28. Allen began his career with Cargill in 1988 and retired in 2004. He was a professor in K-State's Department of Animal Sciences and Industry for 22 years. In 2003, the American Meat Institute Foundation honored him with its Scientific Achievement Award. In the announcement, AMIF stated: "Since his days on the faculty of Kansas State University, Dr. Allen has been known as an outstanding teacher. In the early 1990s, he led the adoption of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) long before it was a federal mandate. His leadership in food safety research and technology has made a real and measurable difference in reducing microbial pathogens in the meat industry." The Stockmen's Dinner, to be held at the Four Points by Sheraton (formerly Clarion) Hotel in Manhattan, precedes the K-State's Cattlemen's Day, which marks its 100th anniversary on March 1.
