OPSU Bull Test ends

The beef bulls on the 61st Annual OPSU Performance Test at Goodwell, Okla., were weighed off test Jan. 26. In preparation for the Feb. 18 sale, the bulls will be measured for frame score, scrotal circumference and evaluated on semen quality. The bulls ended up with an average daily gain of 4.37 pounds and a weight-per-day-of-age of 3.34 lbs. Seventy of these bulls will sell in the 61st Annual Bull Sale Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. CST, Goodwell, Okla. The sale will be held in the England Activity Center at the University Farm with Eddie Sims as the auctioneer.

The top gaining bull on test is an Angus senior-age bull consigned by Al Rutledge, Stillwater, Okla. This bull, a son of SAF Connection, had an ADG of 6.04 lbs. The junior-age bulls were led by the 15-2 test number consigned by J-C Angus Ranch of Moriarty, N.M. This bull had an ADG of 5.56 lbs. and a WDA of 3.94 lbs. His sire is J-C SS Objective 0852. In the senior-age division an Angus bull of Wink Farms, Panhandle, Texas, followed the top bull closely with an ADG of 6.03 lbs. His sire is WAR Alliance 9126 6006. Wink Farms also had the third ranked senior and the third ranked bull on test on a son of Bon View New Design 1407. The bull's ADG was 5.84 lbs. These two bulls, along with their pen mates, led the senior bull pen division with an ADG of 5.52 lbs. The second ranked senior pen at an ADG of 5.11 lbs. was five Angus consigned by Howard McCall of Albuquerque, N.M. Three sires are represented in this pen: Sitz Upward 307R, Connealy Consensus 7229, and SAV Final Answer 0035.

In the junior-age division the top junior was followed by four bulls of Phil Light, Turpin, Okla., on ADGs of 5.49, 5.35, 5.28 and 5.07 lbs. The sires represented are GAR Progress, Connealy Final Product and Rito Revenue SMA of 2536 PRE. Phil Light also has the top two pens of junior bulls on an ADG of 4.99 lbs. on four Angus sired by Connealy Final Product and on an ADG of 4.75 lbs. on four Angus sired by GAR Progress. The Wink Farms pen of three Angus is in third place with an ADG of 4.67 lbs. The sires represented are GAR 5050 New Design 5199, LCC New Standard and R/M Ironstone 4047.
