Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 833 head Jan. 31, compared to 1,475 head last week and 262 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder lambs under 80 pounds were mostly steady, over 80 pounds were $4 to $5 lower, and slaughter ewes sold steady. Good demand for several packages of feeder lambs and bred ewes. The offering consisted of 82% feeder Lambs, 9% bred ewes, 9% slaughter ewes and bucks. Slaughter lambs: Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 11 head, 137 to 139 lbs., 96.00 to 97.00 (96.45). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 14 head, 173 lbs., 40.00. Utility 1 to 2, Medium, 18 head, 137 lbs., 34.00. Cull 1, thin, 6 head, 123 lbs., 24.00. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 22 head, 68 lbs., 158.00; 90 head, 76 lbs., 152.00 to 154.50 (152.50); 82 to 89 lbs., 136.50 to 144.50 (143.66); 166 head, 100 lbs., 130.50; 21 head, 119 lbs., 113.50.
