Colorado feeder cattle auction report

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 3,897 head Feb. 1, compared to 6,318 head last week and 6,390 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steers at 300 to 900 pounds traded mostly $3 to $6 higher with instances of $9 to $14 higher on 450- to 650-pound steer calves. No trend was available on steers over 900 pounds due to a light test this week. Heifer calves weighing 300 to 400 pounds traded mostly $14 to $20 higher, 400 to 800 pounds traded $1 to $5 higher. There were not enough comparable sales from the previous week on heifers weighting over 800 lbs., for an adequate market trend. Trading activity was active on good demand. The supply consisted of 50% steers and 50% heifers. Feeders over 600 pounds comprised 50% of the total supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 345 lbs., 205.00 to 225.00; 350 to 395 lbs., 200.00 to 216.00, thin fleshed 219.50 to 232.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 195.00 to 210.00; 450 to 495 lbs., 176.00 to 193.50; 500 to 535 lbs., 174.50 to 184.50, fancy 191.00, thin fleshed 183.00 to 187.50; 550 to 595 lbs., 158.00 to 182.00; 600 to 640 lbs., 157.00 to 160.00; 655 to 690 lbs., 143.00 to 151.00; 700 to 745 lbs., 143.00 to 149.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 137.50 to 145.50, fancy 147.00; 805 to 845 lbs., 137.00 to 142.75; 865 to 885 lbs., 128.00 to 133.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 485 to 495 lbs., 176.00 to 180.50; 500 to 535 lbs., 162.00 to 174.00; 555 to 585 lbs., 149.00 to 155.50; 605 to 645 lbs., 146.00 to 153.00; 670 lbs., 138.00 to 143.00; 715 to 740 131.00 to 141.00.
