Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever raise over $10M for Kansas Upland Birds
Pheasants Forever is proud to announce the results generated by the Kansas Grassroots Conservation Campaign. During the past three years, Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever and the organization's partners raised over $10 million for Kansas' upland hunting tradition.
Special recognition and thanks go to the organization's Campaign partners, including the Natural Resource Conservation Service, the Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks & Tourism, Campaign donors, volunteer leaders, local Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever chapters, along with many others who answered the call to do more for Kansas' upland hunting tradition. These individuals and partners provided Pheasants Forever with the ability to dramatically increase the organization's impact on upland habitat and youth across Kansas, even during challenging times.
"Our monetary goal for the Kansas Grassroots Conservation Campaign was $10 million, which we are proud to say we eclipsed. Just as importantly, our long-term objective for the Campaign is to impact over 1 million acres of Kansas habitat, and we are well on our way to doing just that," states Howard K. Vincent, Pheasants Forever president and CEO. "By working together over the past three years, Pheasants Forever and our Campaign partners have been able to drastically increase our collective impact on Kansas' upland habitat and wildlife. In addition, this Campaign has allowed us to ramp up our youth mentoring efforts designed to get more Kansas youth outdoors."
Recent Kansas milestones generated by the Campaign include:
--Over 500,000 acres positively impacted.
--Expanding wildlife biology focused conservation planning assistance and conservation program delivery through Pheasants Forever's Farm Bill biologist partnership with NRCS & KDWPT.
--Helping to host over 115 Landowner Habitat Workshops across the state in partnership with Kansas conservation partners.
--Contacting over 4,000 Kansas landowners and helping them enroll in USDA conservation programs like the Conservation Reserve Program and CP-33 Quail Buffers.
--Improving public land habitat through Pheasants Forever's Habitat Specialist partnership with KDWPT on three Kansas Wildlife Management Areas.
--Increasing Outdoor Youth Mentoring opportunities through a partnership with KDWPT, Pass It On-Outdoors Mentors, National Wild Turkey Federation and others.
--Permanently protecting over 2,340 acres for public use through Pheasants Forever land donation legacy partnerships.
