Lexington livestock auction report

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 3,000 head on Dec. 13, compared to 2,945 head last week and 3,100 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, steers weighing less than 750 pounds were sold steady to $3 higher and those weighing more than 750 pounds were sold $5 to $7 higher. Heifers weighing less than 600 pounds were sold steady to $3 higher and those weighing more than 600 pounds were sold $4 to $6 higher. The demand was very good from start to finish with several loads going to out of state feedlots. The demand was also good on replacement type females. Top quality calves and feeders were available all day long with most offerings displaying medium-plus flesh. The supply included 58% steers with nearly 86% of the run weighing more than 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 396 lbs., 234.00; 462 to 483 lbs., 210.00 to 216.00 (214.90); 515 to 536 lbs., 200.00 to 203.50 (203.11); 557 to 562 lbs., 187.50 to 199.00 (190.98); 610 to 646 lbs., 178.00 to 184.50 (183.37); 611 to 629 lbs., 170.00 to 180.00 (178.68) calves; 670 to 697 lbs., 175.00 to 180.25 (177.43); 660 to 695 lbs., 171.00 to 172.50 (171.75) calves; 702 to 740 lbs., 169.00 to 178.75 (175.96); 7 head, 700 lbs., 166.00 fleshy; 771 to 785 lbs., 166.00 to 174.75 (170.86); 13 head, 766 lbs., 164.50 fleshy; 800 to 822 lbs., 169.25 to 171.50 (170.22); 65 had, 833 lbs., 159.00 full; 866 to 881 lbs., 164.25 to 168.75 (167.05); 916 to 918 lbs., 158.00 to 161.60 (161.19); 37 head, 938 lbs., 150.00 full. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 401 lbs., 227.00; 534 to 540 lbs., 194.00 to 196.00 (194.60); 7 head, 647 lbs., 169.00; 17 head, 735 lbs., 157.50 calves.
