Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Livestock Auction, Tulsa Okla., reported receipts of 1,640 head on Aug. 19, compared to 1,430 head last week and 3,352 head last year, according to the USDA to Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steers under 500 pounds were $8 to $12 higher, and those over 500 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Heifers under 500 pounds were $4 to $6 higher, and those over 500 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Demand was good for all classes, especially for lighter weight calves. The supply included 31% over 600 pounds with 33% heifers. Slaughter cows were unevenly steady and slaughter bulls were steady. The packer demand was moderate with 165 cows and bulls was sold with 43% going to packers.

Light, 17 head, 80 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 75.50 to 79.00; high dressing, 80.50 to 87.00; low dressing, 64.00 to 73.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 19 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 96.50 to 100.50; high dressing, 103.00 to 108.00; low dressing, 94.50 to 97.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 years old, 1300 lbs., 6 months bred, average black 1185.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 years old, 1425 lbs., with 175-lb. calves, high black 1685.00; 6 years old, 900 lbs., with 175-lb. calves, average black 1250.00.
