The National Association of Farm Service Agency County Office Employees is an organization that represents the county level employees of the Farm Service Agency, United States Department of Agriculture, had its 54th annual convention Aug. 15 to 17, in Asheville, N.C.

The professional association represents the interests of all county office employees of the FSA. NASCOE was chartered in 1959 to provide a nationwide, nonprofit, nonpartisan, nongovernmental association through which the county committee employees of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service could render better service to American agriculture by having a national medium for the exchange of ideas and information, and to facilitate closer cooperation in working toward solution of mutual problems.

NASCOE President John Lohr welcomed more 450 association members to the convention. NASCOE representatives were present from nearly every state. Lohr also expressed appreciation to the North Carolina state-level association members for their hard work as they hosted the convention.

In his opening remarks to the convention’s delegates, Lohr encouraged NASCOE members to use this opportunity to learn, provide input and direction to the association, and be re-energized in the mission of FSA to serve America’s farmers and ranchers. Lohr also reminded members of the opportunity to meet and engage national-level FSA staff in a discussion of current issues affecting the delivery of farm programs and their workplace.

Keynote remarks were made by FSA Administrator Juan Garcia, who updated the attendees on the farm bill, agency operating budgets, and FSA’s modernization project for its field offices.

Also meeting concurrently with NASCOE at the convention were the National Association of Farmer Elected Committees the National Association of Retired ASCS/FSA Office Employees and the National Association of District Directors.
