North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 569 head March 27, compared to 677 head last week and 997 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Ag to USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady on a light test. Feeder steers and bulls were $2 to $6 higher, with instances $9 higher. Feeder heifers were $1 to $5 higher. Most feeders were weaned with good condition. Supply included about 294 feeder calves, 200 feeder yearlings, 15 replacement cows, 56 slaughter cows, and 4 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 34 percent steers, 46 percent heifers, and 20 percent bulls. Near 31 percent of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1,400 lbs.,., high dressing, 85.00 to 94.00; low dressing 72.00 to 74.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1,300 lbs.,., high dressing, 80.00 to 88.00; low dressing 63.00 to 70.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs.,., high dressing, 72.00 to 75.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 55.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1,000 to 2,100 lbs.,., 94.50 to 98.50.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 327 to 327 lbs., 201.00; 355 to 385 lbs., 183.00 to 191.00 (186.68); 402 to 435 lbs., 174.00 to 181.00 (178.41); 455 to 495 lbs., 159.00 to 166.50 (163.00); 506 to 510 lbs., 156.00 to 163.50 (158.83); 551 to 595 lbs., 142.00 to 161.00 (155.82); 608 to 645 lbs., 139.00 to 153.00 (143.71); 668 to 684 lbs., 140.00; 700 to 733 lbs., 125.00 to 132.00 (130.31); 845 to 845 lbs., 125.00 (125.00). Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2:, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to 1,300 pounds second and third stage 1,200.00 to 1,400.00 per head, few first stage 930.00 to 1,040.00 per head, few open 79.00 to 97.00.
