West Plains regional cattle sales report

The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,765 head April 2, compared to 965 head last week and 2,112 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Too few last week for an adequate price comparison. Compared to the larger run two weeks ago, steers were $5 to $8 higher and heifers were $6 to $10 higher. Several both steers and heifers weighing 350 to 550 pounds weaned and in a quicker to come to on condition sold $8 to $14 higher. The supply was moderate, with lots of heavier long weaned calves and yearlings. Demand was good. The supply consisted of 68% steers, 32% heifers, with nearly 66% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 240 lbs., 197.50; few 300 to 400 lbs., 172.50 to 195.00, few thin 205.00 to 217.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 167.50 to 184.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 159.00 to 180.00, some fancy/thin 179.00 to 183.00, fleshy un-weaned 145.00 to 165.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 141.50 to 153.00, thin 155.00 to 157.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 141.00 to 144.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 130.00 to 134.50, load fancy RAX 774 lbs., 138.50; 800 to 830 lbs., 131.50 to 133.50; few 900 to 935 lbs., mostly fleshy 120.00 to 122.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 170.00 to 180.00, lot thin 380 lbs., 187.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 162.50 to 175.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 156.00 to 166.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 136.00 to 156.00, 700 to 800 lbs., 132.50 to 142.00, 800 to 900 lbs., 123.00 to 133.50; 3 loads 172 head 1044 lbs., 116.00, package 1005 lbs., fleshy 115.00. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 150.00 to 170.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 144.00 to 157.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 132.50 to 136.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 132.00 to 134.00; kg 804 lbs., 125.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, packages and lots 318 lbs., 110.00; package 414 lbs., thin/poor 97.50; 456 lbs., 101.00; lot 553 lbs., gaunt 112.00; couple part loads 736 lbs., 98.50 and 739 lbs., gaunt 100.00.
