Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, April 18, reported receipts of 2,043 head, compared to 2,067 head last week and 1,994 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold unevenly steady. Such as cattle weighing over 850 pounds traded with instances of $3 higher and cattle weighing under 850 pounds traded with instances of $2 lower. Steer or heifer calves were not well tested however a higher undertone was noted. Trade activity and demand were good. The offering included many loads of attractive yearlings weighing over 700 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $1 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 3%, less than 1% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply included 66% steers and bulls, 34% heifers, with nearly 92% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 230.00 to 234.00; 300 to 375 lbs., 196.00 to 208.00; few 590 lbs., 157.00; few 604 lb. calves 148.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 138.75 to 144.00; load 709 lbs., 137.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 131.75 to 133.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 129.50 to 131.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 125.50 to 128.75; 900 to 950 lbs., 121.50 to 125.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 512 lbs., 147.00; lot 755 lbs., 126.00; lot 836 lbs., fleshy 121.00; 900 to 950 lbs., 120.00 to 121.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, few 653 lbs., 130.00; load 764 lbs., 115.00; few 877 lbs., 119.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 562 lbs., 149.00; few 759 lbs., 120.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 212.00 to 216.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 165.00 to 174.00; 400 to 475 lbs., 161.00 to 167.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 137.00 to 141.00; few 601 lbs., 133.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 123.50 to 127.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 121.00 to 126.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 119.50 to 121.75, few 831 lbs., fleshy 116.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 114.00 to 117.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 402 lbs., 155.00; lot 531 lbs., 143.00; lot 655 lbs., 122.00; lot 777 lbs., fleshy 113.50.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1500 lbs., 75.00 to 76.50; low dressing, 69.25 to 73.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 79.00 to 80.50; high dressing, 82.50; low dressing, 77.00 to 78.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 77.00 to 80.50; low dressing, 70.50 to 74.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 73.50 to 78.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, low dressing, 1270 to 1395 lbs., 91.00 to 92.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged to short and solid mouth, 1000 to 1100 lbs., 3 to 9 months bred, 950.00 to 1000.00/head.
