Ericson livestock auction report


The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 2,350 head April 20, compared to 5,210 head last week and 2,350 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

There was a limited number of comparable offerings from two weeks ago and 500- to 550-pound steers traded steady to $2 higher and heifers traded steady to $7 lower. Demand was moderate to good for all offerings. Receipts consisted of 35% steers, 65% heifers with 36% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 302 to 303 lbs., 199.00 to 208.00 (203.49); 8 head, 388 lbs., 201.25; 403 to 409 lbs., 191.00 to 191.50 (191.29); 18 head, 485 to 497 lbs., 177.50 to 178.50 (177.78); 504 to 530 lbs., 174.75 to 179.25 (177.05); 554 to 571 lbs., 166.50 to 170.25 (169.33); 11 head, 604 to 607 lbs., 153.00 to 157.00 (155.19); 660 to 661 lbs., 144.00 to 144.50 (144.14); 703 to 739 lbs., 132.00 to 137.00 (133.52). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 344 lbs., 187.00; 393 to 395 lbs., 185.00 to 196.00 (191.30); 414 to 429 lbs., 183.00 to 190.00 (186.61); 43 head, 499 lbs., 171.50; 537 to 538 lbs., 165.25 to 168.00 (166.23); 21 head, 587 lbs., 146.75; 625 to 638 lbs., 149.00 to 151.50 (150.87).
