Denison feeder cattle auction

The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,689 head April 18, compared to 2,811 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

Compared to two weeks ago, steers at 400 to 650 pounds were $1 to $4 lower, 650 to 800 pounds were $13 lower and 800 to 950 pounds were $3 to $6 lower. Heifers at 450 to 550 pounds were $3 lower, 550 to 650 pounds were $8 lower and 650 to 900 pounds were $2 to $6 lower. The receipts included 52% heifers and 48% steers, with 79% weighing over 600 pounds.
