Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,067 head April 11, compared to 965 head last week and 1,158 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers sold $2 to $6 lower and feeder heifers sold $1 to $3 lower. A weak undertone was noted on calves based on a limited test. Trade activity was fairly active on good demand. The offering included numerous loads of average to mostly attractive quality steers and heifers weighing over 700 pounds. Slaughter cows were mostly steady with slaughter bulls not well tested. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 3%, less than 1% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 62% steers and bulls, 38% heifers, with nearly 84% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 175.00 to 190.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 170.50 to 171.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 150.00 to 159.00, few 506 lbs., thin fleshed 173.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 141.00 to 144.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 135.00 to 136.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 133.50 to 138.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 125.50 to 126.00, few 818 lbs., fleshy 123.00. Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 71.50. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 80.00 to 85.00; high dressing, 86.00 to 87.00; low dressing, 76.00 to 78.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 83.00 to 85.00; low dressing, 73.50 to 75.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 76.00 to 78.50; low dressing, 70.00 to 72.00.

Slaughter bulls: Low dressing, 1270 to 1395 lbs., 91.00 to 92.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Young individual, 1000 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, 900.00; Aged to Short and Solid, 1100 to 1350 lbs., 3 to 9 months bred, 1050.00 to 1185.00/head.
