Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts to 3,347 head April 10, compared to 1,528 head last week and 1,906 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $5 to $8 lower. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 lower, bulls were $2 lower. Trade and demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 9% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, bred cows 5%, pairs 31%, feeders 54%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 57% of the run, heifers 43%, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 68%.

Yield grade 1 to 2, 1170 to 1780 lbs., 92.00 to 102.50; high dressing, individual 2050 lbs., 107.50; low dressing, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 82.25 to 91.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 900 to 1635 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 1000.00 to 1435.00, 900 to 1220 lbs.. 3 to 6 months bred 985.00 to 1100.00/head; middle aged, 840 to 1450 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 900.00 to 1125.00/head; aged, 800 to 1045 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred 600.00 to 1010.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 900 to 1325 lbs., with 70- to 500-lb. calves 1200.00 to 1550.00/pair; middle aged, 925 to 1110 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves 1125.00 to 1400.00/pair; aged, 850 to 1195 lbs., with 100- to 350-lb. calves 935.00 to 1450.00/pair.
