National Sunflower Association appoints new board member

Mike Williams has been appointed to the NSA Board of Directors as the High Plains representative. He takes over the seat previously held by Dean Sonnenberg, a Colorado grower who represented this region for 12 years. Williams, of Lubbock, Texas, has been in the sunflower business since 1988 and employed with Red River Commodities since 1995 when he was hired as general manager of the company’s SunGold Foods plant in Lubbock. He works with confection sunflower from the development of seeds to the package. He is responsible for the procurement of sunflowers for the southern operations of Red River Commodities. Williams also works with breeders and seed companies in the development of new hybrids to meet the needs of customers. Mike and his wife, Diane, have been married for 41 years and have two daughters and two grandchildren.
