Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,330 head April 8, compared to 1,301 head last week and 1,603 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher in a limited test. Steer calves were mostly steady to $5 higher. Heifer calves were steady to $4 lower. Demand was very good for all classes. The supply included 24% over 600 pounds and 51% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2 to $3 lower. A total of 313 cows and bulls sold with 70% going to packers.

Light, 63 head, 80 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 66.00 to 70.00; high dressing, 70.50 to 74.50; low dressing, 60.00 to 64.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 40 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 94.00 to 98.00; high dressing, 100.00 to 105.00; low dressing, 84.50 to 92.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 8 years old, 790 to 1125 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average quality, 875.00 to 1035.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 6 years old, 700 to 850 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, low quality, 775.00 to 1175.00.
