Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman’s Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,296 head April 4, compared to 2,690 head last week and 1,818 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to week ago, feeder steers under 600 pounds were not well tested, 600 to 800 pounds were steady, and over 800 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers under 700 pounds were steady, over 700 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 925-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 17% and slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 83%. The feeder supply included 48% steers and 52% heifers, with nearly 66% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 542 lbs., pre-conditioned 164.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 144.00 to 148.00, load 671 lbs., gaunt 154.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 141.50 to 145.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 130.00 to 135.75, full 122.50 to 128.00; few 932 lbs., 122.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 618 lbs., 141.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 132.00 to 133.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 295 lbs., 161.00; few 540 lbs., 141.00; few 701 lbs., 126.00; few 800 to 850 lbs., 120.00 to 123.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1 few 298 lbs., pre-conditioned 160.00; few 383 lbs., thin 168.50; few 400 to 500 lbs., 149.00 to 153.00; two loads 421 lbs., thin 165.00; few 504 lbs., 149.00; few 596 lbs., thin 142.00; few 600 to 700 lbs., 138.00 to 140.00, few 690 lbs., 131.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 129.00 to 134.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 123.00 to 126.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 121.00 to 125.00, few 897 lbs., 119.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 320 lbs., 151.00; few 500 to 600 lbs., 138.00 to 141.00, load 585 lbs., thin and all natural 144.00; few 668 lbs., 131.00; few 729 lbs., 127.25; few 810 lbs., thin 122.00. Medium and large frame 2, loads 572 lbs., thin and all to natural 143.00.

Slaughter cows: Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 81.50 to 82.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 83.00 to 85.50, few 87.00; low dressing, 68.00 to 74.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 72.00 to 73.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1700 lbs., 73.00 to 74.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 75.00 to 81.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 74.00 to 77.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1850 to 2070 lbs., 102.00 to 106.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 7 to 9 months bred, 1000.00 to 1160.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 80- to 125-lb. calves, 1210.00 to 1325.00/pair.
