Springfield livestock auction report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,031 head March 27, compared to 1,723 head last week and 1,956 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer calves $3 to $5 higher, heifer calves steady to $2 higher following last week’s sharply lower trade. Yearlings not well tested. Holsteins under 500 pounds steady, over 500 pounds $4 to $6 higher compared to a light test last week. Demand moderate to good, supply moderate to light. Near half of the offering was Holstein and Holstein cross steers. Several light Holsteins in thin flesh and showing the present condition of farms as they were carrying extra mud. The feeder supply included 20 percent steers, 48 percent Holsteins, 28 percent heifers, 04 percent bulls, with 33 percent over 600 pounds.
