Pratt livestock feeder cattle auction

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 6,237 head March 20, compared to 6,614 head last week and 4,331 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers at 650 to 1,050 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, few sales 850 to 900 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Heifers at 650 to 700 pounds were steady, 700 to 1,000 pounds were $2 to $5 lower. Steers and heifers at 650 pounds and under were steady to weak in a very limited supply. Trade and demand was light to moderate. Slaughter cows were weak $2 lower, bulls were steady. Receipts were 90% 600 pounds and over, 7% 600 pounds and under, 3% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply 63% steers and 37% heifers.
