Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman’s Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,787 head March 21, compared to 4,109 head last week and 3,558 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to week ago, feeder steers and heifers were steady, except 500- to 600-pound heifers were $3 to $5 lower in a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls were $3 to $4 lower. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 30% and slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 70%. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers, with nearly 80% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 370 lbs., 186.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 160.00 to 164.00, few 512 lbs., 169.00; 600 to 650 lbs., thin 151.00 to 153.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 144.25 to 146.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 139.00 to 145.00, few 706 lbs., thin 147.00, load 779 lbs., 137.10; 800 to 900 lbs., 131.00 to 133.00, fleshy 125.00 to 127.50; load 925 lbs., 125.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 156.00; few 600 to 700 lbs., 139.00 to 144.00; few 881 lbs., 122.00; few 935 lbs., 122.00. Medium and large frame 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 145.50 to 152.00; few 538 lbs., 144.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 273 lbs., pre-conditioned 186.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 154.00 to 160.00, few 354 lbs., thin 175.00, few 383 lbs., thin 165.00; few 400 to 500 lbs., 135.00 to 136.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 135.00 to 139.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 133.50 to 136.50, few 632 lbs., thin 139.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 125.00 to 131.00; few 800 to 850 lbs., 117.50 to 121.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 363 lbs., 151.00; few 436 lbs., 135.00; few 664 lbs., 129.50. Medium and large frame 2, few 400 lbs., 131.00; few 584 lbs., gaunt 130.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1700 lbs., 78.50 to 81.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 79.50 to 82.00; high dressing, 83.00 to 84.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 77.50 to 80.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 77.00 to 80.00.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1800 lbs., 73.75 to 75.50. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 74.00 to 78.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1300 to 1400 lbs., 72.50 to 76.25.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, individual 2025 lbs., 106.00.
