There are more than 700 booths filled with exhibitors from 27 states, Canada and Australia. The Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo spans over 80 acres and is one of the largest farm shows in the region. We have many exciting exhibits, activities, and K-State women’s seminars planned this year. The women’s seminars will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
“Entertainment to the Max” with Max Reynolds will be at the show performing rope and bull whip tricks. For over 30 years Reynolds has “wowed” audiences all over the world with specialty Wild West acts and rodeo stunts. We are thrilled to present Reynolds at the 2013 Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo.
April 10 at 12 p.m., Kevin Price, Ph.D., of the K-State Department of Agronomy will have a presentation on drones called “21st Century Crop Surveillance with Drone Technology.” The presentation sponsored by the Barton County Young Professionals Group.
Genex Cooperative, Inc., will demonstrate chute-side service using portable breeding barns April 11. Chute-side service is a convenient and cost-effective tool for large operations to improve their genetics and profitability through artificial insemination. Chute-side service includes synchronization and technician insemination, providing ranchers with access to the industry’s most sought after genetics. Stop by the west side on the infield parking lot at 1 p.m. to view the demonstration, where 55 heifers will be AI bred; see firsthand how AI could be utilized in your operation.
Another exciting component of the Expo will be the sprayer demonstrations. This year will are adding combine demonstrations to that. The demonstrations will be held everyday of the expo at 1 p.m. at the Southeast corner of the South runway. The demonstrations will include the newest sprayers & combines available in the industry and on the market today. The sprayers and combines will perform and demonstrate how each machine works, including application techniques in a live demo situation. Seating and audio will be provided. This event is brought to you by American State Bank.
A Water Forum Presentation is planned this year. Tracey Streeter, director, Kansas Water Office, and several other state and federal water dignitaries will lead a Water Forum presentation and discussion to address current water issues in the state of Kansas. It will cover things such as the current condition of our aquifers and other water sources across the state, water conservation efforts such as LIMAs, and the current laws and regulations governing water and water rights. This seminar/roundtable discussion will be held in Expo Building #3 on April 11 at 10 a.m. This presentation is sponsored by the American State Bank.
New to the expo will be a refreshment tent at the end of the south runway where attendees can sit down and rest for awhile, grab a bit to eat and a beverage. While there, they can listen to the classic sounds of old time truck drivin’ music with a modern flair of Jimbo Darville & the Truckadours.
“The show staff is excited about the new and exciting activities and seminars that are coming to the 2013 Great Bend Farm & Ranch Expo.
