All grains close lowerGrains all closed lower Aug. 27 as they were unable to hold on to overnight gains, according to the National Grain Market Summary. Grains saw selling and profit taking Aug. 27 as outside markets offered little or limited direction. Grain traders also took to the sidelines to wait out Hurricane Isaac's path. Parts of the Southern Plains had beneficial rains over the weekend to keep wheat prices from moving higher. Wheat closed 3 to 10 cents lower. Corn traded 3 to 7 cents lower. Soybeans closed 8 to 23 cents lower. Grains inspected for export for week ending Aug. 23: Wheat totaled 18.9 million bushels, down 4.5 million bushels; corn 14.5 million bushels, down 7.5 million bushels; sorghum 4.7 million bushels, up 2.1 million bushels and soybeans 17.4 million bushels, down 4.2 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: Wheat totaled 232.8 down 43.9 million; corn 1489.2 down 280.4 million; sorghum 59.2 million down 90.9 million, and soybeans 1350.2 down 131.4 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. In the futures close, Kansas City September wheat was $8.73, down 3 1/4 cents. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $8.45 to $8.46, down 3 cents; Minneapolis, $9.12 3/4, down 5 3/4 cents; Portland, $8.57 to $8.60, down 8 to 15 cents; St. Louis, $8.43, down 10 cents. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $8.19, down 3 to 6 cents; Minneapolis, $7.73 1/2, down 3 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $7.91 1/2 to $7.94 1/2, down 2 3/4 to 7 3/4 cents; Omaha, $8.06 to $8.12, down 7 to 4 cents. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $17.69, down 23 cents; Minneapolis, $17 3/4, down 12 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $17.32 3/4 to $17.52 3/4, down 8 3/4 to up 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, unavailable. Kansas City wheat prices Aug. 28, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $9.17 1/2 to $9.68 1/2, down 5 1/2 cents; 12% protein, $9.54 1/2 to $9.77 1/2, down 5 1/2 cents; 13% protein, $9.64 1/2 to $9.79 1/2, down 5 1/2 to 3 1/2 cents; 14% protein, $9.67 1/2 to $9.82 1/2, down 5 1/2 cents.
