Teleseminar offers winter prep tips
Horses enjoy cold weather and the relaxation that "time off" in winter brings, but it takes more than hay to keep them healthy during the colder months. On Sept. 20, Dr. Juliet Getty will present a 90-minute teleseminar on Preparing for Winter. Planning ahead will help your horses enjoy the season so they can emerge in good condition when spring arrives.
The teleseminar will emphasize:
--What is in hay, and what is missing;
--Alfalfa--should you feed it?;
--Cold weather and metabolic rate;
--Preventing weight loss;
--Keeping the immune system healthy;
--Special needs of older horses;
--The easy keeper--maintaining health while avoid weight gain;
--Is a probiotic useful?;
--Comfort foods/bran mashes;
--Water needs; and
