E15 added at 5 more locationsKansas Zarco66 was the first fuel station in the United States to offer E15 fuel to all passenger vehicles model year 2001 and newer. Now all seven Zarco66 locations offer E15 fuel. Those stations are located in Lawrence, Olathe, Ottawa and Paola. "We started selling E15 fuel in July at our Lawrence station on East 23rd Street and the fuel was quickly embraced by drivers making up 20 percent our sales almost overnight," Zarco66 Owner Scott Zaremba said. "One of the greatest benefits I see is that E15 is a high octane fuel, so you are getting a higher octane for the same price as regular. This is a big selling point for my customers." Ethanol is a domestically produced, octane boosting fuel that is domestically produced. Ethanol is produced at 11 plants in Kansas, bringing jobs and economic growth to several rural communities in the state. Zaremba, who is president of the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association of Kansas (PMCA) said E15 presents an opportunity for Kansas fuel retailers, especially those who have installed blender pumps. On July 11, Kansas Corn Commission Executive Director Jere White fueled his personal car, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, with the first gallons of E15 sold in the United States at the Zarco66 station at 1548 E. 23rd Street in Lawrence. "We've been lucky to have a forward thinking Weights and Measures department at the Kansas Department of Agriculture," White said. "When we wanted to introduce blender pumps for flexible fuel vehicles, KDA's guidelines became a template for other states as well. Thanks in part to that groundwork, Kansas drivers were the first in the nation to buy E15 fuel." E15 is currently available at the following seven Zarco66 locations: --Lawrence: 1548 E. 23rd Street, 1415 W. 6th Street, and 9th and Iowa; --Ottawa: 2518 East Logan St. (I-35 and Highway 68); --Olathe: 397 South Parker Street, and 15310 S. Highway 169 (I-35 and Highway 169; and --Paola: 1005 N. Pearl Street. Date: 9-24-2012
