Grain market closeThe USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo., in the closing grain report for Sept. 17, reported in futures trading that Chicago December soft red winter wheat was $8.78, down 46 1 1/4 cent; December corn, $7.48, down 34 cents; and November soybeans, $16.69, down 70 cents. The export bid for direct Gulf delivery of No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, rail, $9.51 1/4 to $9.52 1/4, down 46 3/4 cents; No. 2 soft red winter wheat, barge, $9.25 to $9.38, down 39 1/4 cents; No. 2 yellow corn, barge, $8 to $8.08, down 12 to 34 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, rail, unavailable; No. 2 yellow sorghum, barge, $12.37 1/2 to $12.82 1/2, down 60 3/4 to 60 1/2 cents; and No. 2 yellow soybeans, barge, $17.37 to $17.42, down 70 to 72 cents. Colby, Kan., unit train wheat bid was $8.17. In Denver and the surrounding area, hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, was $8.24 to $8.79. No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, northwest Colorado was mostly 12 cents lower. In north central Colorado, wheat was $8.24 to $8.40. In northeast Colorado, wheat was $7.91 to $8.09. In east central Colorado, wheat was $7.99 to $8.29. In southeast Colorado, wheat was $8.09 to $8.29. In south central Colorado, wheat was $7.39. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, wheat bids were $7.89 to $8. No. 2 yellow corn in north central Colorado was mostly 8 cents lower and $7.05 to $7.50 per bushel. In northeast Colorado, the country elevator corn bids were $7.10 to $7.36. In east central Colorado, corn was $7.15 to $7.35. In southeast Colorado, corn was $7.60 to $7.80. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, corn bids were $7.15 to $7.40 per bushel. No. 2 yellow sorghum in southeast Colorado was 14 to 23 cents lower at $12.68 to $12.86 per cwt. No. 1 yellow soybeans in southwest Nebraska were mostly 29 cents lower at $15.40 to $15.90 per bushel. White millet in Colorado, southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming was $27 to $29 per cwt., mostly $29. Sunflowers were $25 to $30 cwt. In Denver and surrounding areas, corn was $7.05 to $7.50 per bushel. Barley was steady at $13. In northeast Colorado and Nebraska, pinto beans were steady $38 per cwt; in North Dakota and Minnesota, pinto beans were weak $33 to $35. In North Dakota and Minnesota, black beans had no bids. Great Northerns were steady at $40 in northeast Colorado and Nebraska. In North Dakota and Minnesota, navy beans were steady $33.
