Kansas Livestock Foundation presents donation to Stout CenterKansas The Kansas Livestock Foundation recently presented a $39,348 check to the KSU Foundation for the Stout Center at Kansas State University. KLA Executive Vice President Dee Likes made the presentation on the construction site to Emilie Fink with the KSU Foundation and K-State Animal Sciences & Industry Department Head Ken Odde. KLF already has provided $143,448.38 to the project from five KLA members. Including these donations and outstanding commitments, KLF is expected to forward more than $250,000 toward the Stout Center. "Contributing to the Stout Center through KLF, the KSU Foundation or the Livestock and Meat Industry Council is like giving a blood transfusion in an arm or a leg - it all benefits the same body: the KSU Department of Animal Sciences and Industry," said Rich Porter of Reading, one of the KLA members donating to the project. Ground has been broken and site work is underway. The facility is expected to be complete in time for the K-State Legacy Sale in early March 2013. There are about $200,000 worth of options that could be added if additional funding can be secured prior to Oct. 15. Items needed include operable partitions between the sale ring and the multi-purpose room, air conditioning, kitchen furnishings and concrete for sidewalks. KLA members who would like to help fund any of these options can call KLF at 785-273-5115. Date: 9-24-2012
