Amarillo livestock auction summary

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 965 head Sept. 10, compared to 1,184 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, due to holiday closing last week no price comparisons were available however a firm undertone was noted. Trade activity and demand were moderate. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 8% of the offering, 1% replacements and 91% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 38% steers and bulls, 62% heifers. Approximately 49% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 239 lbs., 219.00; few 321 lbs., 206.00; 400 to 475 lbs., 160.50 to 167; 500 to 600 lbs., 149.00 to 151.00; few 657 lb. calves, 138.50; few 750 lbs., 138.00, few 759 lb. calves, 136.00; few 807 lbs., 136.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 480 to 500 lbs., 145.00 to 152.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 148.00 to 149.50; 700 to 765 lbs., 132.00; few 935 lbs., 125.00. Large frame 1, few 1068 lbs., 122.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, few 525 lbs., 136.00; few 661 lbs., 131.00. Small frame 3 to 4, few 242 lbs., 83.00; few 332 lbs., 79.00, few 376 lbs., 64.00; few 421 lbs., 82.50.
