Ericson Spalding livestock auction report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 4,260 head Sept. 8, compared to 3,285 head last week and 3,750 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

There was a limited number of comparable offerings from two weeks ago. A trend was not given for steers, but 450-pound calves traded $4 lower, heifers at 650 to 850 pounds traded $4 to $9 higher and 400-pound calves traded as much as $10 lower. Demand was good for all offerings with several buyers in the seats. Receipts consisted of 47% steers, 53% heifers with 67% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 383 to 399 lbs., 202.00 to 212.00 (208.74); 14 head, 441 lbs., 184.00; 452 to 488 lbs., 176.25 to 183.25 (178.93); 510 to 548 lbs., 162.50 to 175.25 (167.52); 551 to 569 lbs., 160.50 to 164.50 (161.62); 614 to 628 lbs., 149.00 to 153.00 (151.38) calves; 20 head, 695 lbs., 145.85; 739 to 748 lbs., 143.50 to 149.75 (147.49); 70 head, 797 lbs., 142.00; 15 head, 805 lbs., 142.00; 854 to 868 lbs., 139.50 to 142.75 (141.98); 951 to 971 lbs., 135.00 to 136.50 (135.78); 1017 to 1045 lbs., 130.25 to 134.00 (132.81). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 478 to 481 lbs., 169.50 to 170.50 (170.16); 17 head, 608 to 623 lbs., 139.50 to 145.00 (141.09); 9 head, 784 lbs., 132.50.
