Pratt feeder cattle auction report

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,098 head Sept. 6, compared to 1,638 head, last week and 2,286 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, feeder steers were mostly steady to $2 higher, heifers were mostly steady to $3 higher. Steers at 650 pounds and under, also heifers at 600 pounds and under, were not enough for a market test. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 11% 600 pounds and under and 5% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 56% steers and 44% heifers.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 439 lbs., 177.00; 5 head, 517 lbs., 157.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 155.55 to 156.00 (155.71); 650 to 700 lbs., 150.75 to 153.00 (151.48); 700 to 750 lbs., 148.00 to 149.00 (148.47); 5 head, Fancy 714 lbs., 154.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 140.25 to 141.85 (141.11); 800 to 850 lbs., 140.60 to 140.85 (140.71); 850 to 900 lbs., 135.75 to 137.75 (136.96); 65 head, 922 lbs., 134.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 487 lbs., 160.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 148.00 to 155.50 (150.30); 58 head, 792 lbs., 139.35; 800 to 850 lbs., 137.25 to 137.50 (137.28). Medium and large frame 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 140.25 to 145.00 (142.93). Large frame 1, 600 to 650 lbs., 136.00 to 137.00 (136.53); 13 head, 700 lbs., 137.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 135.50 to 136.00 (135.79); 58 head, 963 lbs., 130.60.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 145.00 to 146.00 (145.66); 16 head, 514 lbs., 139.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 136.00 to 138.85 (138.69); 650 to 700 lbs., 137.50 to 138.85 (138.42); 700 to 750 lbs., 136.85 to 137.25 (136.95); 750 to 800 lbs., 133.10 to 135.50 (133.87). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 494 lbs., 134.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 131.00 to 135.50 (134.17); 550 to 600 lbs., 132.50 to 135.50 (133.90); 700 to 750 lbs., 130.50 to 132.60 (132.44); 750 to 800 lbs., 127.25 to 130.35 (128.68); 800 to 850 lbs., 124.25 to 126.50 (125.53).

Baby calves: Per head, steers/bulls, 3 head, 165 to 190 lbs., 375.00 to 410.00 (389.10); 1 head, 210 lbs., 390.00; 7 head, 267 lbs., 520.00; Heifers, 2 head, 125 to 145 lbs., 250.00 to 290.00 (268.52); 1 head, 160 lbs., 250.00; 4 head, 205 to 216 lbs., 350.00 to 370.00 (354.81).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 89.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 78.50 to 80.00; low dressing, 79.50 to 83.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 74.00 to 77.00; high dressing, 78.50 to 84.50; low dressing, 69.50 to 73.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 96.50 to 101.50; low dressing, 83.50 to 95.00.
