Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 3,762 head Sept. 6 compared to 1,889 head last week and 1,756 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder lambs 40 to 69 pounds sold $1 to $5 higher, over 70 pounds sold $2 to $5 lower. Good demand for several packages of light feeder lambs which sold on an active market, heavy feeder lambs and slaughter ewes sold on a moderate market. The offering consisted of 74% feeder lambs, 1% replacement ewes, 25% slaughter ewes and bucks. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 161 to 186 lbs., 37.00 to 38.25 (37.81). Good 3 to 4, fleshy, 7 head, 224 lbs., 36.50, Utility 1 to 2, Medium frame, 302 head, 154 lbs., 34.50. Cull and Utility 1 to 2, Thin, 98 head, 139 lbs., 39.00. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1, 124 head, 102 lbs., 91.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 45 to 49 lbs., 117.00 to 119.00 (118.26); 55 to 59 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (110.92); 60 to 66 lbs., 101.00 to 104.00 (102.17); 71 to 79 lbs., 94.75 to 97.00 (96.49); 81 to 87 lbs., 89.00 to 95.75 (94.82); 22 head, 87 lbs., 85.00 full; 90 to 99 lbs., 84.50 to 89.75 (88.11); 100 to 109 lbs., 82.50 to 88.50 (85.07); 92 head, 114 lbs., 84.75; 14 head, 126 lbs., 81.00.
