Ada livestock auction report

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., reported receipts of 671 head Sept. 5, compared to 1,392 head last week and 3,672 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, in a light test, steer and heifer calves under 450 pounds were $1 to $4 lower, and heavier calves were steady. There was no test on yearlings. Demand was moderate following the holiday weekend. Triple digit temperatures with sharply lower temperatures in the nearby forecast also served to limit demand. Overall quality of offerings plain to average. Slaughter cows were steady in limited test. Slaughter bulls were not established. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 172 cows and bulls sold with 57% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 255 to 285 lbs., 222.00; 5 head, 308 to 320 lbs., 200.00 to 212.00 (202.47); 8 head, 350 to 380 lbs., 182.00 to 196.00 (186.84); 9 head, 431 to 447 lbs., 155.00 to 156.00 (155.56); 450 to 478 lbs., 150.00 to 165.00 (160.78); 16 head, 502 to 547 lbs., 154.00 to 154.50 (154.26); 20 head, 554 to 593 lbs., 137.50 to 150.00 (139.87); 5 head, 610 to 637 lbs., 128.00 to 136.00 (132.88) calves; 5 head, 710 lbs., 135.00 calves. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 454 to 460 lbs., 140.00. Feeder Holstein steers, Large frame 3, 10 head, 464 lbs., 75.00 full.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 353 to 380 lbs., 157.00 to 165.00 (162.33); 5 head, 400 to 443 lbs., 150.00 to 160.00 (152.16); 450 to 495 lbs., 130.00 to 145.00 (137.64); 13 head, 505 to 535 lbs., 130.00 to 136.00 (132.63); 555 to 590 lbs., 130.00 to 135.00 (132.98); 650 to 693 lbs., 125.00 to 130.50 (128.98 Calves. Medium and large frame 2, 17 head, 410 to 441 lbs., 135.00 to 148.00 (143.21).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 505 to 518 lbs., 130.00 to 135.00 (131.28); 9 head, 558 to 598 lbs., 131.00 to 137.00 (133.65).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 13 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1900 lbs., 76.00 to 78.00; high dressing, 79.50 to 80.00; low dressing, 71.50 to 74.00. Boners, 21 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1475 lbs., 77.50 to 78.50; high dressing, 79.50 to 82.00; low dressing, 73.00 to 75.00. Lean, 27 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 76.00 to 77.00; high dressing, 78.50 to 79.00; low dressing, 73.00 to 75.00. Lights, 13 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 72.50 to 75.00; high dressing, 77.00 to 81.00; low dressing, 64.00 to 69.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 9 head, 1300 to 2050 lbs., 97.00 to 100.50; low dressing, 92.00 to 96.00.

Replacement cows: 5 to 7 years old, 1075 to 1175 lbs., 2 to 3 months bred, average black, 800.00 to 870.00; 5 to 7 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average black, 1000.00 to 1150.00.
