Governors elect new leadership team, Berkel honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
Members of the Board of Governors recently gathered for the annual meeting at The National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame.
"As we remember America's farmers in hard, dry times, we know our purpose at the Hall of Fame is to support all friends of agriculture," said Joe Steineger, chairman of the board of governors, as he called the meeting to order.
At the meeting, the governors elected the following officers of the board of directors: Jody Albers, president; Dale Warman, past president; Karen Meredith, vice president; Ken Blum, secretary; and Stephen Tuttle, treasurer.
"We are excited to take the reigns of leadership and bring a sense of appreciation and dignity to American agriculture in all facets of life," said Jody Albers, president. "This enthusiastic board is ready to expand programs and exhibits as more and more people show interest in where their food comes from."
Board members include Jody Albers, Bottle 12; Vic Allred, Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen; Thom Bear, Earp Distribution; Ken Blum, Berkel & Company; Carl DiCapo, community volunteer; John Dillingham, Dillingham Enterprises Inc.; Bob Dunn, JE Dunn Construction; Donald Hrabik, Greater Kansas City Two Cylinder Club; Rick Hughes, GKCCVA; Jill Jenkins, Magnum Opus; Karen Meredith, community volunteer; Amy O'Rourke, Social Security Administration; Joan Payne, Leavenworth County Farm Bureau; Kevin Pistilli, Marriott Hotel; Willard Snyder, attorney; Joe Steineger, Steineger Farms; Fred Stitt, Pursell Construction; Wayne Strandt, retired, Union Pacific; Stephen Tuttle, Tuttle Farms; Charley Vogt, Country Club Bank; Dale Warman, International Lineman's Rodeo; Pat Warren, Kansas Speedway; and Randy Watson, KCP&L.
"This gathering of our leadership gives us clear direction and support to fulfill our mission of sharing the positive message of American agriculture," said Cathi Hahner, executive director.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Charles Berkel, of Berkel & Company in Bonner Springs, Kan., was given the Friends of Farming Lifetime Achievement Award for his generous support and decades of donations.
"Mr. Berkel is a rock-solid supporter of our organization, and he has been for years," said Dale Warman, past president. "He has stood along our side in good times and rough times, and he is a one-of-a-kind enthusiast of the Hall of Fame."
