Grain, soybean bids mixed


Grain and soybean bids traded mixed for the day, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Sept. 4.

Corn saw gains on overnight export announcement and the rally in the soybeans. However, harvest pressure was noted in some areas. Soybeans rallied on concerns of tightening supplies outlook.

Wheat was mostly 1 to 11 cents higher. Corn was 4 cents lower to 5 cents higher. Sorghum was 9 cents higher. Soybeans were 4 cents lower to 6 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $9.07 1/4, up 1 1/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $8.60, up 1 cent; Minneapolis, $9.38 3/4, up 5 1/2 cents; Portland, $8.70 to $8.90, up 5 to 10 cents; St. Louis, $8.40, down 1 cent.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $8.23, up 5 cents; Minneapolis, $7.75, down 4 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $7.70 to $8.01, up 2 1/4 to down 1 1/4 cents; Omaha, $8.05 to $8.10, down 1 to up 2 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $17.78, down 4 cents; Minneapolis, $17.33 1/4, up 2 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $17.38 1/4 to $17.51 1/4, down 1/4 to 3/4 cent; central Illinois processors, $17.98 1/4 to $18.08 1/4, up 1 3/4 to down 3 1/4 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Sept. 4, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $9.32 1/4 to $9.72 1/4, up 1 1/4 to down 5 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $9.65 1/4 to $9.92 1/4, down 3/4 to up 1 1/4 cents; 13% protein, $9.79 1/4 to $9.94 1/4, up 1 1/4 cents; 14% protein, $9.82 1/4 to $9.97 1/4, up 1 1/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $9.20 to $9.24, up 7 to down 4 cents.
