Oklahoma BQA award winners announced
The mission of the checkoff-funded Oklahoma Beef Quality Assurance Program is to promote good management practices for cattle producers in an effort to strengthen consumer confidence in beef as a wholesome, high-quality product. Every year the Oklahoma Beef Council honors those individuals and organizations that have dedicated their time and effort to ensure the success of the Oklahoma BQA program.
This year, the 2012 Oklahoma BQA Outstanding Service Award went to two companies, Priefert Ranch Equipment and Shawnee Feed, who believe in BQA and have demonstrated it through their financial support. The program continues to gain strength and momentum through industry partners such as these.

He has gone above and beyond through numerous BQA trainings and countless hours spent developing our state's new Youth Beef Quality Assurance program. .
A new award was given away this year to recognize a marketer who is committed to practicing BQA guidelines and promoting it to their clientele. The 2012 Oklahoma BQA Marketer of the Year Award went to Gary and Grady Potter, owners of Blackwell Livestock Auction, Inc. The Potters are two devoted individuals who are advocates for BQA and practice it within their business.
The final award went to Harold and Donna Gillenwaters of Chickasha, Okla. Harold and Donna were recognized as the 2012 Oklahoma BQA Producer of the Year. Calves are then preconditioned for at least 45 days and marketed as age and source verified. He follows a Quality Assurance Herd Health Plan that conforms to the best veterinary and husbandry practices.
The Oklahoma Beef Council would like to thank all of the BQA certified producers for their commitment to quality and extend their congratulations to each of the award recipients.
